My first trip to the mining area of the Powder River Basin was in 1992.
I was doing more video taping than photography at the time, so I don't have a large collection
of trains in that area. I made another trip to the area in 2000 doing more video taping.
As busy as the line is there is very little variety in the coal trains. Some trains use
rotary dump gondolas, some use air dump hoppers. For many of the coal trains you can figure
out the destination of the coal by the reporting marks on the cars. There is more information
