It is September 1973 and there is a new spur at Fleta and the helpers for westbound trains off the Palmdale-Colton Cutoff. Waiting in the new spur is a helper set lead by engine 6913. Engine 4358 and another SD9 are handling today's Blitz. Following close behind is another helper set.
A little further south, I caught the Searles Turn headed to Los Angeles with engine 6909 on the point. On the right you can see a couple carbon black cars on the United Carbon spur. I think the name changed to Columbian Carbon in 1969 and the business shut down in 1989. Cut in about two thirds deep is the helper set lead by engine 6905. Disk 48
