This snapshot of operations was taken December 21, 1992 at 6:00P.M. It details the operations of 105 freight trains as the crews battle a snow storm to move 4,771 loads and 4,729 empties across the system. We begin our detailed look at operations at the eastern end of the system.

Trains in Chicago

APL double stack train OAOCH left Fremont yesterday at 3:05P.M. with engines 6333, 6328 and 6095 pulling 15 loads 5,440 tons. It set out engine 6095 at Missouri Valley. This unit was later picked up by train ITCUO. OAOCH arrived at Wood Street this morning at 3:25A.M.

APL double stack train SESC6 left Fremont yesterday at 4:00P.M. with engines 6921, 3499, 2411, and 3241 pulling 15 loads, 4,988 tons. At Boone, engine 3241 was isolated due to ground relay problems. Engine 2411 died near Nelson, so the train was stopped and the engine drained. It arrived at Wood Street at 4:00A.M.

Piggyback train symbol NPCSZ left Fremont yesterday evening at 8:10P.M. with engines 6904 and 5080 (note GP50 trailing) pulling 36 loads and 17 empties, 3,629 tons. It met piggyback train CSNPZ at Missouri Valley and ran around the freight train CBPRA at Denison. After the PRNPB went by, it used the westward main to run around the GJDMG at Boone. NPCSZ arrived at Canal Street at 10:20A.M.

LALC7 left Fremont this morning at 1:05A.M. with engines 7002, 7009, and 6924 pulling 19 loads, 4,797 tons. At Marshalltown it lost 50 minutes stuck behind the CBPRA and DMPRA. It ran around the CBPRA at Belle Plaine. Engine 6924 died near Nelson and the train was stopped to shut down the engine and drain the radiator. It arrived at Wood Street at 1:50P.M.

The crew for the CSSEZ would be called at 6:30P.M. It would have engines 6333 and 6328 and leave Canal Street with 37 loads, 2,775 tons.

The crew for the APCW3 would be called at 9:00P.M. It would have engines 6888, 3548, 3644, and 5080 and leave Wood Street with 23 loads, 6,325 tons.

The crew for the GLLA4 would be called at Wood Street at 10:30P.M. The train would have engines 7002 and 7009 with eight loads, 1,000 tons.

Freight train NPCRA left Fremont at 2:35P.M. yesterday with engines 6888, 3548, and 3644 pulling 80 loads and 15 empties, 10,016 tons. It arrived in Proviso at 3:30A.M. this morning and left for Conrail at 4:30A.M.

Freight train DMPRA left Des Moines last night at 9:15P.M. with engines 8007 and 6876 pulling 33 loads and 92 empties, 6,679 tons. It arrived in Proviso at 10:00A.M. with 62 loads and 30 empties, 7,301 tons.

Freight train CBPRA left Council Bluffs yesterday at 6:30P.M. with engines 6846, 6935, 8043 (dead), 5099 (dead), and 7011 (dead) pulling 73 loads and 62 empties, 9,862 tons. It set out five loads at Denison and one load at Grand Jct. At Marshalltown it added engines 8051 (dead) and 8507 (dead) and left at 6:20A.M. with 39 loads and 32 empties, 4,746 tons. It left Beverly with 38 loads and 17 empties, 4,317 tons, and arrived in Proviso at 2:05P.M.

Freight train MAPRA left Madison, IL at 2:15A.M. with engines 7007 and 6850 and ran light engine to Granite City, where it picked up 20 loads and 25 empties, 3,054 tons. It picked up one load of ballast at Benld. After switching at Sommer and Peoria Jct., it left with 15 loads and 22 empties, 2,469 tons. It arrived in Proviso at 3:00P.M.

Freight train NPPTA left Fremont this morning at 12:40A.M. with engines 6292, 9384, and 6870 (dead) pulling 102 loads and 15 empties, 12,462 tons. It met LALC7 at Missouri Valley. It left Marshalltown at 7:45A.M. with 93 loads and nine empties, 10,876 tons. It arrived in Proviso at 3:15P.M.

Freight train NPPRA left Fremont this morning at 2:25A.M. with engines 8035 and 4138 pulling 57 loads and 38 empties, 8,132 tons. It was stuck at Missouri Valley for 25 minutes waiting for the RMCYC to pick up grain. It left Clinton at 12:15P.M. with 47 loads and 38 empties, 7,156 tons, and arrived in Proviso at 4:00P.M.

The power for the empty coal train OKNMX left Butler at 6:30A.M. and picked up 113 empties, 3,390 tons, at Oak Creek. Engines 6801 and 8052 were turned on the wye at Kenosha and the train left at 11:50A.M. The train stopped for lunch at Blodgett and arrived in Proviso Yard at 4:10P.M. It would later be interchanged with the Santa Fe at McCook and load at York Canyon, NM.

Freight train PRDMA would leave Proviso at 6:50P.M. with engines 6846 and 6935 pulling 18 loads and 28 empties, 2,765 tons.

The crew for the freight train ELNPA would be called at 8:10P.M. The train would have engines 6909 and 6882 with nine loads and 99 empties, 4,552 tons.

Chicago to Fremont

Freight train PRCBA left Proviso at 5:00P.M. with engines 6876, 8007, 6930 (dead), 6828 (dead), 8508 (dead), and 4552 pulling 13 loads and 138 empties, 5,668 tons. It was now near Geneva. The dead units would be set out at Marshalltown.

Piggyback train NPCSZ left Fremont this morning at 6:40A.M. with engines 6903 and 3605 pulling 75 loads, 4,709 tons. At Kennard, it met the APCW2, CSSEZ, and APSE2. It was now near Creston and would set out 16 loads at West Chicago.

Freight train PRNPB left Proviso at 3:30P.M. with engines 6921, 3499, 3241, (dead) and 2411 (dead) pulling 45 loads and 31 empties, 5,255 tons. It left West Chicago at 4:45P.M. with 48 loads and 38 empties, 5,911 tons. It was now near Rochelle.

Freight train SPBOA left South Pekin at 10:55A.M. with engines 8006 and 6809 and ran light engine to Sommer, where it picked up five loads and 114 empties, 3,993 tons. It was now approaching Sterling. At Clinton, it would set out 31 cars and pick up 17.

Freight train CYPRA left Clinton at 4:35P.M. with engines 6807 and 6893 pulling 23 loads and four empties, 4,680 tons. It was switching at Sterling. It would leave at 7:08P.M. with 20 loads and 27 empties, 4,974 tons.

Freight train KCPRA left Des Moines at 11:59A.M. with engines 6851 and 6871 pulling 21 loads and 25 empties, 3,181 tons. At Beverly, it set out 26 cars and picked up nine. It left at 3:35P.M. with 22 loads and seven empties, 2,683 tons. It was passing through Morrison, IL having just met the PPROX on double track near Union Grove.

Coal train PPROX left Pleasant Prairie yesterday at 8:30A.M. with engines 8512 and 8533 pulling 113 empties, 3,500 tons. Due to lack of available power, it was tied down at Proviso for a day. It left Proviso at 3:18P.M. with engines 8020 and 8514 and was slowing for the Mississippi River Bridge.

Freight train PRCYA left Proviso at 3:30A.M. with engines 6893 and 6807 pulling 23 loads and 53 empties, 4,214 tons. It left West Chicago with 43 loads and 64 empties, 6,661 tons. It left Rochelle at 7:20A.M. with 22 loads and 63 empties, 4,463 tons. It arrived in Clinton at 10:40A.M.

Coal train RMCYC arrived at the Rochelle Mine at 4:20A.M. on the 19th, finished loading at 6:53A.M., and left at 7:15A.M. with 50 loads, 6,634 tons. It was combined with the BMFRC at Bill and left with 109 loads, 13,500 tons. Engines 8525 and 8534 were removed at S. Morrill and it departed yesterday morning at 7:20A.M. It left Council Bluffs this morning at 1:55A.M. with 50 loads. It picked up 25 loads of grain at Missouri Valley and let the NPPRA run around it. It picked up 25 more loads of grain at Boone and left at 8:30A.M. with 100 loads, 13,082 tons. It set out 25 loads at Marshalltown and arrived in Clinton at 3:00P.M.

Coal train PPECX left Pleasant Prairie at 6:50A.M. with engines 8522 and 8548 pulling 111 empties, 3,330 tons. It left Proviso at 10:30A.M. At Otis, Iowa (mp77) it let the CSNPZ run around it and was still waiting for the OAOC1 to clear the Cedar River Bridge.

OAOC1 left Fremont at 11:40A.M. with engines 7018, 5074, and 5084 pulling ten loads, 3,961 tons. It met ELNPA and GONP3 at Missouri Valley and waited at Beverly for the CSNPZ to run around the PPECX. Once the CSNPZ was by, it got the signal to proceed and was now crossing the Cedar River Bridge.

Freight train BOSPA left Boone at 11:15A.M. with engines 7032 and 7025. It ran light engine to Marshalltown and picked up 22 loads, one empty 2,559 tons. After letting trains NPCSZ and KCPRA run around it, it left Marshalltown at 1:55P.M. At Beverly, it set out four cars and picked up 68. It was now ready to leave Beverly with 40 loads and 28 empties, 5,543 tons. It would have to wait until the PPECX cleared the Cedar River Bridge.

Freight train PRKCA left Proviso at 9:10A.M. with engines 6854 and 6895 pulling 16 loads and 39 empties, 3,111 tons. It picked up three empties at Clinton and left at 1:25P.M. At Beverly, it set out 38 cars and picked up nine. It was now leaving Beverly with 13 loads and 16 empties, 2,018 tons.

CSNPZ left Canal Street at 11:55A.M. with engine 6362, SSW 9684, and SP 9739 pulling 17 loads, 1,275 tons. It was now near Belle Plaine.

Coal train PPROX left Pleasant Prairie yesterday at 5:35P.M. with engines 8548 and 8522 pulling 113 empties, 3,390 tons. At Proviso, it received engines 8512 and 8533 and left after the OAOC7. It let the APSE2 run around it at Clinton and set the whole train out on the west passing track at Tama. The power arrived in Marshalltown at 5:00A.M.

NPCSE left Fremont at 12:30P.M. with engines 6890 and 5086 pulling 27 loads and 38 empties, 3,365 tons. At Kennard, it met ELNPA and GONP3. Pulling out of Kennard the crew noticed that the 5086 was not loading and the train lost about 20 minutes on the way to Boone, due to lack of power. The train was now passing through Nevada.

GJDMG left Grand Jct. last night at 11:30P.M. with engines 6843, 8016 and 4612 pulling 75 loads of grain, 9,750 tons. It set out one bad order car at Boone and set out engine 4612 at Ames. It arrived in Des Moines at 5:10A.M.

Freight train PRDMA left Proviso yesterday at 10:45A.M. with engines 6934 and 7006 pulling 54 loads and 57 empties, 7,449 tons. It left Clinton with 23 loads and 25 empties, 3,171 tons. It left Marshalltown at 6:30A.M. with 28 loads and 30 empties, 3,951 tons, and tied up in Des Moines at 8:10A.M.

Freight train DMPRA was being put together at Des Moines. It would leave at 7:30P.M. with engines 7026 and 6879 pulling 23 loads and 43 empties, 3,853 tons. It was scheduled to set out 40 cars and pick up two cars at Marshalltown.

BVRMX left Clinton with three loads and six empties at 1:50P.M. on the 19th. At Beverly, it set out the nine cars and picked up 79 empties, 2,528 tons. The empties were set out at Boone at 10:15P.M. on the 19th and are on hold waiting for the next loading assignment.

CYBOE left Clinton yesterday at 7:20P.M. with engines 8047, 6926, 5061, 4183, 8027, 8509, and 4600 pulling 52 empties. It left Marshalltown at 1:50A.M. with 45 loads and 85 empties, 8,218 tons. It set out engine 4600 at Ames and tied up at Boone at 3:25A.M.

Coal train BBHVC loaded at Black Buttes, WY with engines 9394 and 9351. It left Council Bluffs at 10:30A.M. with 120 loads, 15,592 tons. At Missouri Valley, it traded engines with the ITCUO and left with engines 7003 and 8019. At Woodbine, it met ELNPA and GONP3 and let OAOC1 and NPCSE run around it. It was near Jefferson.

Freight train PRNPA left Proviso at 5:50A.M. with engines 6925 and 7008 pulling 59 loads, 32 loads, 5,725 tons. It was now approaching Denison. It would soon meet the ECPPC on double track and later meet the SECSZ at Kennard.

Coal train ECPPC left the Caballo Mine at 11:20P.M. on the 19th with 111 loads, 14,598 tons. It left S. Morrill yesterday at 4:10P.M. At Council Bluffs, engines 8528 and 5065 were taken off and 8023 and 8502 were added. It left at 3:15P.M. and was approaching Denison.

BPNAX arrived at the Antelope Mine at 7:30P.M. on the 14th, finished loading at 12:30A.M. and left at 1:00A.M. as the ATBPC. It had engines 8536, 5078, 8513, and 8539 with 111 loads, 14,801 tons. Engines 8536 and 5078 were removed at S. Morrill and it left at 8:40A.M. It left Council Bluffs at 10:50A.M. on the 16th. It met the ITCUO at Buckeye and tied up at Mason City at 11:40P.M. It left at 6:10A.M. the next morning and arrived at South S. Paul at 11:30A.M. After unloading at Bayport it became the BPATX. It left South St. Paul yesterday at 11:40A.M. with 111 empties, 2,861 tons. It tied up at Mason City at 4:15P.M. It left this morning at 11:05A.M., met MTMCA and ATBPC at Buckeye, Iowa, and passed KC Jct. at 3:02P.M. It was near Arcadia (mp268).

Freight train CBPRA left Council Bluffs at 3:45P.M. with engines 8046, 7005, 4116, 5070 (dead), 8528 (dead), and 5065 (dead) pulling 19 loads and 14 empties, 2,736 tons. It picked up 14 cars at Missouri Valley and left at 4:50P.M. with 27 loads and 20 empties, 3,882 tons. It was going into the siding at Dunlap to meet the PRNPA and NABPX. It would pick up ten loads at Arcadia. At Ames, it would set out three cars and pick up engine 4602. It would set out engines 8528, 5065, and 4602 at Marshalltown.

Coal train SNECX left Sergeant Bluff at 1:10P.M. with engines 6869 and 7012 pulling 108 empties, 3,240 tons. It was rolling into Council Bluffs, where these units would be replaced by engines 6918 and 8517.

Trains on the Union Pacific

Coal train NNECX left Sergeant Bluff at 4:00P.M. yesterday. It left Council Bluffs at 2:45A.M. with 110 empties, 3,300 tons.

Ore train ITCUO left Itasca at 11:15P.M. on the 18th with 105 loads, 13,652 tons. It left South St. Paul the next morning at 7:30P.M. and met the NACPC and DMEMA at Sheffield. It set out engine 6805 at KC Jct. and set out the whole train at Ames due to lack of space at Council Bluffs to handle the train. Yesterday evening, engines 3759 and 9450 came out of Boone picked up the train and departed Ames at 6:50P.M. It added engine 6095 at Missouri Valley and arrived in Council Bluffs at 2:10A.M. The power was serviced and the train left at 4:00A.M. this morning.

CPBMX left Hoffman Ave. yesterday at 8:00A.M. with engines 8520 and 8014 pulling 107 empties, 3,210 tons. It met DMEMA at Sheffield and NABPC at Buckeye. It arrived at Council Bluffs at 7:35A.M. and was waiting for the UP to handle.

Ore train ITCUO left Itasca, WI yesterday at 9:06A.M. with engines 6918, 7003, and 8019 pulling 103 loads, 13,408 tons. It met the DMEMA at Gordon, MN and the NABPC at Manly, IA. It left Boone at 6:20A.M. and met NPCSZ and BTWTC at Dunlap. At Missouri Valley it traded engines 7003 and 8019 for 9394 and 9351 from the BBHVC. It arrived in Council Bluffs at 12:40P.M. and set out engine 6918.

Freight train PRCBA left Proviso yesterday at 2:20P.M. with engines 7005, 8517, and 6887 pulling 12 loads and 88 empties, 3,850 tons. It followed PRNPB out of Clinton and set out UPFE 58604 at Norway, Iowa due to sticking brakes. It set out 6887 at Marshalltown and left at 5:45A.M. with 30 loads and 61 empties, 4,836 tons. It set out 27 empties at Ames. At Boone, it picked added engine 6891, one load and left at 8:50A.M. It picked up a repaired hopper, UP 45923, at Dunlap and arrived at Council Bluffs at 1:00P.M.

Freight train SXCBA left Sioux City at 5:20A.M. with engine 6844 pulling six loads and two empties, 847 tons. It picked up 50 loads of grain at Onawa and set out four loads at River Sioux. It arrived in Council Bluffs at 12:01P.M. with 50 loads and two empties, 6,564 tons. This same unit would be used on tonight's CBSXA called for 10:00P.M. with seven loads and 40 empties, 1,873 tons.

BBWKC would come off the Union Pacific into Council Bluffs at 8:05P.M. with engines 6359 and 9309 pulling 116 loads, 15,080 tons.

Freight train PRNPB left Proviso yesterday at 3:30P.M. with engines 6911 and 5055 pulling 15 loads and 71 empties, 3,890 tons. It picked up 15 cars at West Chicago and left with 17 loads and 84 empties, 4,821 tons. At Woodbine, it went into the siding and met NPPRA and RMCYC. It arrived in Fremont at 5:45A.M. and left at 7:00A.M.

CSSEZ left Canal Street yesterday at 9:30P.M. with engines 6901 and 6861 pulling 18 loads, 1,350 tons. It arrived at Fremont at 8:15A.M. and left at 8:25A.M.

APSE2 left Wood Street last night at 10:00P.M. with engines 8005 and 6049 pulling seven loads, 1,925 tons. It arrived at Fremont at 8:25A.M. and left at 9:25A.M.

Freight train ELNPA left Proviso at 11:05P.M. with engines 6886 and 5090 pulling 30 loads and 62 empties, 4,329 tons. It added engine 5063 (dead) at Marshalltown and left at 8:00A.M with 39 loads and 75 empties, 5,669 tons. It set out three cars and left Fremont at 2:00P.M. with 36 loads and 75 empties, 5,314 tons.

GONP3 left Proviso at 1:47A.M. with engines 6332, 9315, and 8030 pulling 19 loads, 5,225 tons. It arrived in Fremont at 2:00P.M. and left at 2:25P.M.

SECSZ would arrive in Fremont at 6:45P.M. with engines 7031 and 7028 pulling 45 loads, 3,707 tons.

Freight train NPCRA would arrive in Fremont at 7:30P.M. with engines 7022 and 8044 pulling 67 loads and 21 empties, 8,667 tons.

Freight train NPPTA would arrive at 8:30P.M. tonight with engines 8002 and 3912 pulling 50 loads and 38 empties, 6,616 tons.

Freight train NPPRA would arrive at 10:00P.M. tonight with engines 7020, 2470 and 5072 (dead). It would pick up 22 cars at Fremont, and leave after the TKEV1 with 53 loads and 32 empties, 6,614 tons.

TKEV1 would arrive in Fremont at 10:35P.M. with engines 6341, 6259, and 2480 pulling 18 loads, 4,146 tons.

OASK1 would arrive in Fremont at 11:05P.M. with engines 6358, 6193, and 9135 pulling 20 loads, 5,352 tons.

Coal train ECNNC left the Caballo Mine at 2:30P.M. yesterday with 109 loads, 14,333 tons, and got a shove up Logan Hill. It arrived at S. Morrill at 10:05A.M. and engines 8575 and 5095 were removed. It left at 11:30A.M.

Coal train ECSNC left the Caballo Mine at 9:50A.M. yesterday with 109 loads, 14,070 tons. At Nacco Jct., the units were cut off to assist BN 9234 up Logan Hill. It arrived in S. Morrill at 5:15A.M. and cut off units 8550 and 8554. It left at 8:00A.M.

Coal train CDHSC finished loading at the Cordero Mine yesterday at 6:05A.M. and left at 6:40A.M. with engines 8530, 5091, 9401, and 9409 pulling 112 loads, 14,895 tons. It was tied down at Reno due to hours of service law. It left at 7:15P.M. with another crew, changed crews at Shawnee Jct., and arrived in S. Morrill at 4:25A.M. Engines 8530 and 5091 were taken off and the train left at 4:40A.M.

Coal train CDSAC arrived at the Cordero Mine yesterday at 6:40A.M., finished loading at 9:20A.M., and left at 9:40A.M. It had engines 8540, 8566, 6308, and 9334 pulling 110 loads, 14,475 tons. It was tied down at Reno due to hours of service law. The next crew used the units to shove the BTFGC up Logan Hill and on their return got the CDSAC moving again at 9:00P.M. It arrived at S. Morrill at 4:45A.M. and set out engines 8540 and 8566. It left at 5:55A.M.

Coal train CDSAC arrived at the Cordero Mine yesterday at 4:25P.M., finished loading at 7:45P.M. and departed at 8:05P.M. It had engines 8545, 5054, 9396 and 9165 pulling 110 loads, 14,479 tons. It stalled on Logan Hill and was helped by the following train. It arrived in S. Morrill at 10:15A.M. and engines 8545 and 5054 were taken off. It left at 12:01P.M.

Coal train NANWC arrived at the North Antelope Mine at 2:25P.M. yesterday, finished loading at 4:30P.M., and was tied down. Engines 8542, 5053, 6337, and 9243 were then used in helper service. Later that evening the power was brought back and the train departed at 12:45A.M. with 113 loads, 14,864 tons. The crew was relieved at Barnes and the train arrived in S. Morrill at 9:15A.M. Engines 8542 and 5053 were removed and the train left at 9:20A.M. this morning.

FGBTX arrived at the Black Thunder Mine yesterday at 6:30A.M., finished loading at 10:08A.M., and left as the BTFGC with engines 8540, 5079, 6130, and 9372 pulling 109 loads, 14,320 tons. It arrived at S. Morrill at 4:35A.M. this morning, set out engines 8540 and 5079 and left at 4:45A.M.

HSBTX arrived at the Black Thunder Mine yesterday at 3:50P.M., finished loading at 6:18P.M., and became the BTHSC. It pulled a knuckle trying to leave the mine. After replacing the knuckle it left at 8:55P.M. with engines 8571, 5085, 9288, and 9215 pulling 115 loads, 15,125 tons. At Nacco Jct., the units were cut off to assist the train ahead up Logan Hill. After the crew change, it left Bill at 2:30A.M. this morning. It arrived at S. Morrill at 8:50A.M., set out engines 8571 and 5085, and left at 9:15A.M.

Coal train JRRDC arrived at the Jacobs Ranch Mine yesterday at 6:20A.M., finished loading at 8:40A.M., and departed at 8:55A.M. with 115 loads, 15,383 tons. It then waited at Reno for eight hours due to congestion on the joint coal line. It left Reno at 6:20P.M., got a shove over Logan Hill and arrived in S. Morrill at 1:40A.M. this morning. Engines 8551 and 5058 were removed and the train departed at 2:30A.M. with engines 6278 and 9251.

PPECX left Pleasant Prairie at 7:25P.M. on the 19th, arrived at Council Bluffs at 9:25P.M. yesterday, and would arrive in S. Morrill at 8:25P.M. It had engines 8033 and 8564 pulling 113 empties, 3,390 tons.

PPROX with engines 8012, 8570, and 8021 left Cudahy, WI with 50 empties, 1,500 tons, at 12:20P.M. on the 16th. It met the NMOKC at Oak Creek and picked up 63 empties. It set out one bad order WEPX car at Creston, IL and left with 112 empties, 3,360 tons. At Lowden, engine 8012 died. It would only operate in run six. After letting trains GLLA6, CSSEZ, ELNPA, MLTA2, APKA6, PRNPV, and MITK6 run around, the crew got the train to limp along to Tama. There the WMT02 out of Marshalltown gave the train engine 8505. It arrived in Boone at 1:15P.M. on the 17th and was tied down. Engine 8021 was picked up by the BPNAX. Engine 8012 was repaired and the train left at 1:05P.M. yesterday with engines 8570 and 8012. It arrived at Council Bluffs at 7:00P.M. yesterday and the power went through. It would arrive in S. Morrill at 8:00P.M.

South Morrill to Wyoming Coal Mines

SAATX arrived in S. Morrill yesterday at 9:40P.M. with engines 9384 and 9391 pulling 110 empties, 3,300 tons. It was being held due to the weather. The next crew for this train would be called at 9:30P.M. tonight.

SHBTX left Sheboygan at 7:00P.M. on the 18th with nine loads and 132 empties, 3,943 tons. The non-coal traffic was set out at Butler and the train left at 10:35P.M. with 114 empties, 3,420 tons. SHBTX left Sheboygan at 1:05A.M. on the 19th with 116 empties, 3,480 tons. It set out three empties at Butler, met PRANA at St. Francis and ran around the OKNMX (crew having breakfast) at Blodgett. It left Proviso at 10:10A.M. and arrived in Council Bluffs at 3:45A.M. yesterday morning. It arrived in S. Morrill at 1:05A.M. and was tied down. It would leave S. Morrill at 6:55P.M. with engines 8562, 5098, and 8028 pulling 112 empties, 3,360 tons.

WBJRX arrived in S. Morrill at 5:05P.M. with engines 6249 and 9370 pulling 115 empties, 3,450 tons. The outbound crew would add engines 8542 and 5053 and leave at 7:45P.M.

FGBMX arrived in S. Morrill at 5:45P.M. with engines 9466 and 6142 pulling 105 empties, 3,150 tons. Engines 8545 and 5054 would be added and the train depart at 8:05P.M.

FGBTX arrived in S. Morrill yesterday at 2:15A.M. with 112 empties 3,360 tons. It left at 4:20A.M. with engines 8556, 8515, 6066, and 9209. Engine 6066 died during the run to Bill. FGBTX arrived at Bill 9:50A.M. and was tied down due to blowing snow. After adding engine 8557, it left at 6:30A.M. this morning and arrived at the Black Thunder Mine at 8:35A.M. It finished loading at 10:35A.M. and left at 12:01P.M. as the BTFGC with 112 loads, 14,732 tons. It changed crews at Bill and left at 2:30P.M. It set out engine 8515 at Barnes and was now passing through Braun. At S. Morrill, engines 8557 and 8556 would be set out.

BPNAX left Bayport with the second cut of empties at 6:45P.M. on the 17th. It doubled the train together at Lake Elmo and left at 7:45P.M. with engine 8031 pulling 113 empties, 3,390 tons. It turned the engine on the wye in East St. Paul and left at 9:50P.M. It tied up at Manly at 4:30A.M. With a new crew it left Manly at 7:30P.M. on the 18th and arrived in Boone at 12:30A.M., where it added engines 8021 and 5065. It met the NPPRA at Denison and NACPC at Missouri Valley. It arrived in Council Bluffs at 6:00A.M. and set out engine 5065. It arrived in S. Morrill yesterday morning at 8:20A.M. It left S. Morrill at 10:45A.M. after adding engines 8544 and 8547. It was tied down at Bill from 6:50P.M. until 4:45A.M. this morning due to blowing snow. It arrived at the North Antelope Mine at 5:50A.M., began loading at 7:23A.M., and finished at 9:43A.M. It left as the NABPC at 10:05A.M. with 113 loads, 14,565 tons. It was approaching Alsop. At S. Morrill, it would trade engines 8544, 8547, 8031, and 8021 for 8040 and 8575.

RDJRX arrived in S. Morrill at 2:15P.M. with engines 9476 and 9137 pulling 115 empties, 3,450 tons. Engines 8571 and 5085 were added and it left at 4:15P.M. It was in the siding at Braun.

WBJRX arrived in S. Morrill at 11:15A.M. with engines 6273 and 9346 pulling 109 empties, 3,270 tons. Engines 8551 and 5058 were added and it left at 3:40P.M. It was now passing through Barnes. It would load at North Antelope and become the NAWBC.

DYBMX left South St. Paul at 1:00P.M. on the 18th with 109 empties, 3,270 tons. At 4:10P.M. at Medford, MN (mp285.9), the train hit a car at a grade crossing. The conductor broke his hand trying to get the car door open and was taken to the hospital. The train was moved to Owatonna to clear the main line. A new crew took over and the train left at 8:55P.M., met the DMEMA at Manly and arrived at Mason City at 12:15A.M. on the 19th. It left Boone at 4:42A.M. following the PRNPB and met the NACPC at Denison. It arrived in Council Bluffs at 9:00A.M. It left S. Morrill today at 3:00P.M. with engines 8550, 8024, and 8518 pulling 91 empties, 2,730 tons. It added engine 8515 at Barnes and was now at Myles. When loaded, it would become the BMDYC.

FGBTX left S. Morrill at 7:30A.M. with engines 8536, 5078, 6188, and 9423 pulling 115 empties, 3,450 tons. It left Bill at 3:45P.M.

SHATX left Sheboygan at 8:40A.M. on the 17th with engines 8532 and 8576 pulling 110 empties, 3,300 tons. It left Proviso at 1:30A.M. on the 18th and set out engine 8576 at Marshalltown. It picked up engine 8009 at Boone and arrived in Council Bluffs at 7:55P.M. that evening. It left S. Morrill at 11:00A.M. yesterday with engines 8535, 8529, 8532, and 8009 pulling 111 empties, 3,330 tons. The train was caught by the hot box detector near Braun and the crew cut out the brakes on EDGX 3331. At 3:30P.M., the train was tied down at Barnes and the crew took engines 8535 and 8529 back to S. Morrill. This morning two crews left S. Morrill at 3:30A.M. with engines 8535, 8529, 9422, 6036, 8558, and 5073. At Barnes, one crew and engines 8558 and 5073 were added to the SHATX. The other crew and remaining units continued to Myles to pick up the WBJRX. The SHATX left Bill at 2:00P.M. with engines 8558, 5073, 8532, and 8009 and would become ATSHC after loading.

SNECX left Sergeant Bluff at 3:05P.M. on the 19th with 110 empties, 3,300 tons, and arrived in Council Bluffs at 10:35P.M. It arrived in S. Morrill yesterday at 10:00P.M. with engines 6108 and 8552. Engines 8555 and 5087 were added and it left at 7:50A.M. with 109 empties, 3,270 tons. It left Bill at 4:25P.M. and would become the ECSNC when loaded.

HSCDX came into S. Morrill at 12:50A.M. with engine 6203 pulling 103 empties, 3,090 tons. It left at 12:25P.M. with engines 8540, 5079, 8566, and 6203 and pulled into Bill at 4:50P.M. The next crew would be called at 10:40P.M.

CPBMX left Hoffman Ave. at 10:55A.M. on the 18th with 110 empties, 3,300 tons. It met the NABPC at Ellendale, MN and left Mason City at 7:50P.M. It met the NPPRA at Woodbine and arrived in Council Bluffs at 4:45A.M. It left S. Morrill yesterday morning at 9:05A.M. It was delayed for four hours at Shawnee Jct. due to a broken rail on the BN. It arrived at Bill at 5:35P.M. and was tied down due to blowing snow until 5:40A.M. this morning. It arrived at the Belle Ayr Mine at 8:35A.M., finished loading at 11:55A.M., and left at 12:15P.M. BMCPC had engines 8549, 5060, 8011, and 8543 with 110 loads, 14,457 tons. It was now tied down at Bill.

BPNAX left Bayport with the third cut of empties at 1:30P.M. on the 19th. It doubled the train together at Lake Elmo and left at 3:15P.M. with engines 8017 and 8569 pulling 114 empties, 2,910 tons. It met the DMEMA and NACPC at Ellendale, MN and arrived in Council Bluffs yesterday at 11:30A.M. It arrived at S. Morrill at 8:30A.M. this morning, added engines 8530 and 5091, and departed at 12:45P.M. It arrived in Bill at 5:05P.M. and after loading at the Antelope Mine would become the ATBPC.

HLBTX left S. Morrill yesterday at 7:20A.M. with engines 8560, 6243, 6263, and 6163 pulling 110 empties, 3,300 tons. It was held at Bill until 6:25A.M. this morning due to blowing snow. It arrived at the Black Thunder Mine at 7:50A.M., finished loading at 11:40A.M., and left at 12:25P.M. as the BTHLC with 110 loads, 14,456 tons. As the train was climbing Logan Hill, engine 6263 died and the train stalled. The train was now approaching Bill.

HSCDX came into S. Morrill at 12:45A.M. with engines 6315 and 6025 pulling 109 empties, 3,270 tons. Engines 8525 and 8534 were added and the train left at 7:25A.M. It was approaching the Cordero Mine.

CPBMX left South St. Paul at 9:50P.M. on the 17th with 110 empties, 3,300 tons. It followed the SSDMA into Mason City, Iowa and was tied down until 4:15A.M. on the 19th. It waited at KC Jct. for trains GLLA1, GONP1, PRNPV, and MLTA3 to clear, then proceeded west to Boone. It met the ROPPC and ECPPC at Missouri Valley and arrived in Council Bluffs at 5:40P.M. It arrived in S. Morrill last night at 11:35P.M. with engines 8055 and 8505 pulling 108 empties, 3,240 tons. After adding engines 8565 and 5062, it left at 7:15A.M. It left Bill at 11:45A.M. and was approaching the Belle Ayr Mine. After loading it would become the BMCPC.

WBJRX left S. Morrill yesterday at 10:50A.M. with engines 8558 and 5073 pulling 115 empties, 3,450 tons. At Myles, the train was tied down and the units run back to S. Morrill. This morning, engines 8535, 8529, 9422 and 6036 came up from S. Morrill, picked up the train and left Myles at 7:15A.M. It was now at the Jacobs Ranch Mine and when loaded would become the JRWBC.

WBJRX left S. Morrill yesterday at 12:20P.M. with engines 8561, 5075, 6318, 9169, and 8553 pulling 106 empties, 3,180 tons. It picked up engine 8557 at Lusk. It arrived at Bill at 7:45P.M., set out engine 8557 and was tied down due to blowing snow. It left Bill at 10:20A.M. this morning and arrived at the North Antelope Mine at 11:15A.M. It finished loading at 1:20P.M. and became the NANWC. It left at 1:25P.M. with 111 loads, 14,603 tons, and was stopped at Nacco Jct. waiting for traffic to clear and a relief crew.

Sioux City Line

NNECX left Sergeant Bluff at 1:30P.M. with engines 6873 and 6845 pulling 110 empties, 3,250 tons. It would be tied down at Mondamin and held for room at Council Bluffs.

Coal train ECNNC left the Caballo Mine at 1:40A.M. on the 19th with engines 8544, 8547, and 8560 pulling 109 loads. The train pulled a drawbar on IPSX 9038 and got a knuckle on IPSX 72070 near Haire. The train stalled going up Logan Hill due to a bad jumper cable between units and was assisted by the power from the following BN train. It left Bill at 1:40P.M. that afternoon with 108 loads, 14,202 tons. At S. Morrill the power was swapped for engine 6873. Engine 8046 was added at North Platte. It left Council Bluffs with engines 6873 and 6845 at 12:01A.M. this morning and arrived in Sergeant Bluff at 5:15A.M.

ECSNC left the Caballo Mine at 2:45P.M. on the 19th with 108 loads, 14,202 tons. It set out TRIX 75371 at Reno due to bad brake rigging. At Nacco Jct., the power was cut off to assist the train ahead up Logan Hill. It arrived in S. Morrill at 7:45A.M. yesterday and engines 8536 and 5078 were removed. It arrived in Council Bluffs at 3:45A.M. with engines 6927, 8523, and 8546. It picked up two additional loads and left at 8:45A.M. with 109 loads, 14,446 tons. It arrived in Sergeant Bluff at 3:05P.M. and unloaded the first car at 5:05P.M. A crew for the empty train (SNECX) would be called at 10:00P.M. tonight.

Spine Line

WTBTX left West Ave. at 5:45P.M. on the 15th with 117 empties, 3,623 tons. It met the DMEMA and BMDYC at Manly and was stuck behind the IFMTE working at Hampton for 90 minutes. The power was turned on the wye at Chicago Jct. and the train left at 7:15A.M. on the 17th. It met the SECSZ, NPPTA, and ATCPC at the end of double track at Denison. It left Council Bluffs at 12:05A.M. on the 18th. It arrived at the Black Thunder Mine at 2:20P.M. on the 19th and finished loading at 3:45P.M. It left as the BTWTC at 6:40P.M. with 113 loads, 14,862 tons. It stalled going up Logan Hill and got a shove from the following train. It left S. Morrill yesterday at 8:10A.M. with engines 8506 and 8008. It left Council Bluffs this morning at 7:40A.M. and met the NPCSZ at Woodbine. It met the BPATX at KC Jct. and followed the DMEMA north. It was passing through Hampton, Iowa.

BPATX left South St. Paul at 6:20A.M. with engines 8527 and 8537 pulling 111 empties, 2,833 tons. It tied up at Mason City at 12:01P.M. The next crew would be called at 9:00P.M.

MTMCA left Marshalltown at 9:25A.M. with engines 6928 and 6842 pulling 21 loads and 33 empties, 3,435 tons. It waited 30 minutes at KC Jct. for the MCMTA and SSDMA to clear, then headed north. It tied up at Mason City at 3:15P.M.

BPNAX arrived at the Antelope Mine at 10:20A.M. on the 19th, finished loading at 2:30P.M., and left as the ATBPC at 3:15P.M. It had engines 8561, 5075, 8034, and 8510 with 112 loads, 14,981 tons. It was scheduled to pick up a load (NSPX 90088) at Lusk, but the crew could get the frozen switch to open. At S. Morrill, engines 8561 and 5075 were removed and it left at 10:20P.M. It left Council Bluffs at 4:47A.M. this morning. It met APCW2, CSSEZ, and APSE2 at Dunlap. It left Boone at 10:33A.M. and met the BPATX at Buckeye. It was passing through Gordon, MN and would meet the SSMCE at Albert Lea and the SSDMA at Kasper.

Coal train NABPC finished loading at the North Antelope Mine at 5:55P.M. on the 18th. It left at 6:30P.M. with engines 8541, 8503, 8572, and 6816 pulling 112 loads, 14,833 tons. After engines 8541 and 8503 were removed, it left S. Morrill at 3:40A.M. on the 19th. After setting out one load with sticking brakes, it left Council Bluffs yesterday at 12:45P.M. It left Mason City, Iowa at 10:50P.M., met the SSDMA at Gordon, and tied up at South St. Paul at 5:20A.M. this morning. Engines 8032 and 8574 had just been added and it would leave for Bayport at 6:35P.M.

Coal train NACPC arrived at the North Antelope Mine at 11:00P.M. on the 18th, finished loading at 1:15A.M. and departed at 4:45A.M. It had engines 8555, 5087, 8043, and 8025 pulling 109 loads, 14,295 tons. At S. Morrill, engines 8555 and 5087 were taken off and 6845 added. It left at 2:00P.M. on the 19th. At Council Bluffs, units 8043 and 6845 were taken off and engine 8526 added. It left Council Bluffs at 3:10P.M. yesterday. It left Mason City, Iowa at 3:10A.M. and met the SSDMA at Manly and the BPATX at Kasper, MN. It arrived at Hoffman Ave. at 1:40P.M. and was interchanged to the Soo Line at 1:45P.M.

Wisconsin

Coal train ROPPC left the Caballo Rojo Mine at 10:40A.M. on the 18th with 112 loads, 14,738 tons. At S. Morrill, engines 8557 and 8563 were set out and the train departed at 12:30A.M. on the 19th. It left Council Bluffs yesterday morning at 4:50A.M. and met the PRCBA at Dunlap. It let the KCPRA and SECSZ run around it at Nachusa, IL (mp93). It left Proviso this morning at 12:25A.M. with engines 8020 and 8514. It arrived in Pleasant Prairie at 2:22A.M. and began unloading at 1:25P.M.

Coal train LTSHC was unloading at Sheboygan. When finished it would leave with engines 6037 and 6039 pulling 113 empties, 2,580 tons. It would tie up at Butler and load next at the Rochelle Mine.
