It is a cold and frosty morning on November 12, 1976. The sun has just barely come up when train 136 comes into Minturn for a crew change. The train has engines 5319, 3054, and 3046. Minturn is at milepost 302 at an elevation of 7,810 feet.
The headend stops between the old coaling tower and the water tank. There is no rush getting the new crew on board as the helper power is returning from the top of the pass after helping the previous eastbound train. This gives the sun a little time to get up and bathe the yard in the early morning light. Disk 37
