Santa Fe trains from Newton, KS through
Oklahoma to Gainesville, TX Picture Gallery

Amtrak Texas Chief at Wayne, OK

This gallery follows the Santa Fe from Newton, KS through Oklahoma City to Gainesville, TX. I've only made a couple trips following the Santa Fe through central Oklahoma. The first trip was in 1974 with my brother Steve. The second trip was solo in 1978.

In 1920, the Santa Fe installed automatic block signals from Winfield, KS through Ark City to Newkirk, OK. In 1922 the railroad was installing automatic block signals Pauls Valley to Arbuckle (28 miles) and Gainesville, TX to Thackerville (12 miles).

All the pictures that I took in this series are on disks 83 and 85. Pictures taken by my brother Steve are not on disks yet. You can purchase a disk and printout any of the pictures for your own use to dress up your train room or add color to a house that just cries out for more train pictures. As reference, I've added the Red Rock Subdivision timetable.
