BN PRB coal trains in the Sand Hills of Nebraska Picture Gallery

For this segment we are going to cover the line from near Grand Island west to Alliance and then south on the line to Northport then west to Morrill. The Burlington and Missouri River Railroad built west from Grand Island through the Sand Hills and reached Alliance in 1888. The CB&Q built south from Alliance and completed a line to Sterling, CO in 1900. The railroad then began building west from Northport and reached Guernsey the same year. This line was extended to connect with the line between Billings and Denver at Wendover in 1915.
