Nickel Plate engine 765 was built by the Lima Locomotive Works in Lima, Ohio. The engine was completed in September 1944 and has a 2-8-4 wheel arraignment. This was one of the last super power steam engines built America. The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society began restoration work on the locomotive in 1978 and one year later it ran on its own power as man and God intended. While attending Taylor University, I was fortunate enough to have time off from classes and made a trip down to Muncie, IN to see the engine as it made a short trip down from Fort Wayne in May 1983. Meet the photographer.
