Opps - I missed the headend power, but did manage to catch the caboose of a westbound. The second section of train 188 would meet an eastbound at Becker.
This was a real surprise. Engines CN5134, CNW938, and the 8720 lead an eastbound train up grade at Sais on October 30, 1977. I wouldn't want to be the engineer on this train as he will have a much harder time controlling his speed on the long descent to the Pecos River without the benefit of dynamic brakes. Sais is at milepost 876. In the late 70s the Santa Fe borrowed power from the N&W, C&NW, and CN. Disk 61
