For this series we will follow Southern Pacific trackage in eastern Oregon form near Klamath Falls over part of the Modoc Line to Sage Hen. We will also see engines on the former Oregon California & Eastern.
The Nevada California Oregon Railway began construction from Reno in 1888. It reached Alturas in December 1908 and Lakeview in 1912. The Fernley & Lassen Railway crossed the NCO at Wendel, CA in March 1913. SP acquired control of the NCO in 1926 and rebuilt the line from Wendel to Alturas as standard gauge in 1927. The SP extended southeast from Klamath Falls and completed the Modoc Line in September 1929. Modoc trains began operating over the WP between Flanigan and Winnemuca in 1963. Soon after the SP pulled up the track between Flanigan and Fernley.
All pictures in this series are on disks 20 and 21. You can purchase a disk and printout any of the pictures for your own use to dress up your train room or add color to a house that just cries out for more train pictures.
