Engines 2008 and 801 are pulling an eastbound train through Chatsworth on August 12, 1982. At one time there was a crossing here with an Illinois Central branch line that ran between Kankakee and Bloomington, IL. The TPW installed a US&S automatic interlocker at the crossing in Chatsworth to control 5 signals in 1955.
The TPW Railway had one of the worst passenger train wrecks in US history just three mile east of Chatsworth. On August 10, 1887 a bridge weakened by fire collapsed under the train. Over 80 people were killed and around 300 were injured. Disks 113
