Train 77 with engines 6494 and 6607 rolls through North Zulch, TX on April 5, 1980. The young lady standing next to the depot is not the operator, but my future bride. This was our first train chasing date. We started chasing this freight train near Shiro and followed it north until sunset. Due to the low light I misread a road sign and missed the road to Teague. I am not the first in the family to take a date out to watch trains. See my roots and Wadley page. A loaded grain train derailed here a few years later and wiped out this quaint little station.
The train 77 went into the siding at North Zulch to meet train symbol 78 Extra 5664 East. The track really does sag that much. M/W guys say that gives greater clearance between passing trains.
Ruthy gives the engineer a friendly wave and the engineer returns the salute. Disk 96
