The original town was established in 1873 and called El Dorado. It was a stop on the stage coach line between Weatherford and Gainesville. When a post office was opened in 1876, the town was renamed to Paradise as there was already an El Dorado, Texas. When the Rock Island built through the area in 1893, the town was moved closer to the tracks.
Train 21 (Extra 319 South) has just left Bridgeport and is crossing the West Fork of the Trinity River on its way to Fort Worth on August 12, 1978. About an hour earlier, Extra 247 North was coming through the little community of Paradise.
I wasn't quite fast enough to catch train 26 approaching the same crossing at Paradise on April 14, 1979. I did get a going away shot. Disk 86
