Union Pacific Crew Starts
from various terminals at the end of 2011

This report was collected over several months toward the end of 2011. The numbers represent the number of crews called at the following terminals on either a Saturday or Sunday. The numbers also include deadhead calls where the crew is called, but transported to another terminal to balance crews. Today most of these deadhead transfers are via a crew van to save time. In the old days the crews rode in the caboose or in the cab of the second unit in the locomotive consist. A dot represents a weekend with no data. It does not mean that no crews were called. So the numbers are close to the number of trains operated from that terminal on either a Saturday or Sunday. Generally, Monday is the slowest day of the week and then traffic builds later in the week. Fridays and Saturdays can be the busiest days of the week.
