The original line between Winton and Leavenworth followed the the narrow and dangerous Tumwater Canyon. Occasionally the river would undermine the roadbed and several trains wound up in the river. The railroad punched a couple tunnels through low hills and re-routed the track down Chumstick Valley in 1928. Extra 875 East is coming out of the last tunnel and enters the top end of Chumstick Valley. Disk 6
